Suspending automation makes Pro Tools ignore the automation data during playback, so the track plays without those automated changes until you resume. In other words, Command+Shift targets the end of the selection, letting you fine-tune its endpoint without altering the beginning.

Delay compensation keeps all tracks in time by offsetting playback to account for plugin and routing delays. To verify it’s active and helping synchronization, look at the Delay indicator on each track in the Mix window; it shows how much delay compensation is being applied for that track. The Mix window also reflects the overall status of Delay Compensation for the session. Those indicators provide the clear, immediate confirmation that timing is being aligned across tracks. The other windows don’t display this per-track compensation status, so they aren’t the right places to verify it.

Pro Tools’ I/O Setup handles audio routing: where audio signals come from (Input paths), where they go (Output paths), and how they are processed through hardware or plugins (Insert paths). MIDI configuration isn’t part of this audio routing area, because MIDI deals with digital instrument data rather than audio signals. MIDI devices and ports are configured in a separate MIDI setup area, not in I/O Setup. So the tab that isn’t found there is the MIDI tab.
