Dynamic data in headers and footers are fields that automatically update as the document is used. In Bluebeam-style workflows, you typically can insert fields like Date, Page Number, and Bates Number. The Date field shows the current date (or the print date) and changes over time. The Page Number field displays the current page (and can show total pages), updating as you move through the document. Bates Number is a sequential identifier that advances with each page, giving every page a unique stamp. Document Title, however, is metadata about the file and does not change from page to page or with printing. It stays the same unless you edit the file properties. Because it doesn’t update automatically in the context of headers and footers, it isn’t considered dynamic data for this purpose. So the option that is not a dynamic data option for headers and footers is Document Title.

Rotating pages directly from the Thumbnails panel is the quickest way to change their orientation. When you select one or more page thumbnails, you can rotate them all at once—either by using the rotate commands that appear in the right-click context menu or by clicking the rotate buttons in the toolbar. This changes how the page is displayed and printed without altering the page content itself, making it a fast, safe way to fix orientation across multiple pages. Opening the Print dialog, deleting, or copying a page are separate actions that don’t rotate pages.

The Locator Key identifies your current location within the dashboard, acting as a quick reference to where you are in the layout. As you navigate through different sections, it updates to reflect your exact spot, helping you stay oriented without having to trace a path every time. This direct labeling of your present position is what makes it the best fit for telling you where you are. A breadcrumb, by contrast, shows the path you’ve taken to reach the current page. A compass implies direction more than position. A stage indicator reflects progress through a sequence rather than your exact spot in the dashboard.

Totals for a measured segment should rotate to follow the line itself. Aligning the segment total in the segment’s direction keeps the label visually attached to that specific line, no matter how the segment is oriented. This makes it immediately clear which measurement the total refers to, even when lines run at an angle. For segments that are horizontal or vertical, horizontal or vertical alignment works, but it breaks for angled lines. Diagonal alignment is essentially what happens when a line is diagonal, but the consistent, all-situations rule is to match the label to the segment’s direction.

Restricting users in Studio Projects is about controlling who can access and work on the project. By enabling the Restrict Users option in Project Settings, you limit access to only invited people and assign the appropriate permissions, so team members can view or edit as intended while others cannot. This helps protect data, maintain security, and ensure a coordinated workflow when multiple people collaborate. Versioning for all files is about tracking changes over time rather than who can access the project. Disabling file sharing completely is too extreme for typical collaboration and isn’t the purpose of restricting users. Setting up external servers for storage deals with where data is stored, not who is allowed to work in the project.
