• Clinical (approximately 50% of the exam): This section covers direct patient care and includes topics such as understanding the path of kidney disease, using aseptic technique, assessing and cannulating the patient's vascular access, monitoring patients during treatment, administering prescribed medications (like heparin), and evaluating fluid status before and after dialysis. You will learn to recognize and report potential complications.
• Technical (approximately 23% of the exam): This area focuses on the equipment. You will learn how to set up, test, and monitor the hemodialysis machine and its alarms.
