What the Course Entails and Exam Details

The comprehensive HeartCode ACLS program covers essential life-saving skills. The curriculum encompasses advanced resuscitation techniques, systematic approach algorithms (including Cardiac Arrest, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, Stroke, and Acute Coronary Syndromes), effective team dynamics, dynamic simulation cases (MegaCode), and ACLS pharmacology.

The online, self-paced cognitive portion (HeartCode ACLS Part 1) uses micro-simulation technology to assess the student’s ability to apply their knowledge. Students must successfully manage several patient scenarios during the simulations. This practice test focuses exclusively on helping you prepare for these online simulations and the types of multiple-choice questions you might encounter.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

For the complete HeartCode ACLS certification, you must successfully complete both the online cognitive assessment (Part 1) and a mandatory in-person skills session (Parts 2 & 3).

The online cognitive exam (HeartCode Part 1) requires students to achieve a passing score based on successful navigation through the simulation scenarios and a required percentage on written knowledge checks. These scenarios test your decision-making, speed, and accuracy in following established AHA protocols.

Upon successful completion of Part 1, you will generate a completion certificate necessary for admittance to the required hands-on skills session. This in-person session, conducted by an authorized AHA Instructor or at an AHA Training Center, involves testing your skills in CPR, AED use, and as a Team Leader during a MegaCode resuscitation simulation.
