What the Course Entails and Exam Details

A cosmetology license in Kentucky represents a broad mastery of the beauty arts.

A passing score of 70% or higher is required on both the written and practical components to earn your licensure.

You must schedule both exams through the Kentucky Board of Cosmetology (KBC) online portal.

The written exam is administered via PSI Services at various computer testing centers throughout the state, including locations in Louisville, Lexington, and other major regions.

The practical exam is held at a limited number of designated regional testing centers, which are also scheduled through the KBC portal.
