What the Course Entails and Exam Details

The NCO DLC is structured around four primary pillars of non-commissioned officer development, which are: Leadership, Culture, Mission, and Problem Solving. These modules provide a comprehensive curriculum that advances the high ideals necessary for teamwork, good order, and discipline.

Module 1: Leadership. This section focuses on advanced leadership theories, institutional requirements, and ethical decision-making. You will learn to determine the impact of leadership actions and determine proper courses of action for achieving team goals.

Module 2: Culture. Here, you will dive into the history, traditions, and foundational values that strengthen the Air Force culture. The curriculum helps NCOs assess and advocate for actions that foster a healthy and resilient environment within their work centers.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

The full NCO DLC does not have a single, massive final cumulative exam in a traditional sense. Instead, your proficiency is assessed through a series of "summative evaluations," which are standardized, end-of-module quizzes. This practice test is modeled directly after these individual module quizzes.

Exam Format: Each summative evaluation consists of twenty (20) multiple-choice questions. These questions are designed to be scenario-based, requiring you to apply the principles you have learned to real-world situations, rather than simply recalling definitions.

Time Limit: You will have twenty (20) minutes to complete each twenty-question module quiz. The limited time ensures you have internalized the material and can make effective decisions quickly.

Passing Score: A minimum passing score of 70 percent is required for each of the four module evaluations. If you fail a quiz, you have a second attempt to master the material. Failure on the second attempt results in disenrollment from the course.

Testing Virtual "Centers": As a distance learning course, there are no physical testing centers. The final evaluations are "virtual." You take these quizzes directly on your personal device—laptop, tablet, or phone—from any location with a reliable internet connection. However, it is highly recommended not to take the assessments while on the government network to avoid potential technical issues. You will self-enroll and access all testing materials through the Air University Portal.
