About this Exam

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the sole medical entrance examination in India for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) courses in government or private medical colleges.

The Chemistry section of NEET is a critical component, often acting as a bridge between the highly competitive Biology section and the mathematically rigorous Physics section. It consists of 50 questions, accounting for 25% of the total marks.

This specific NEET Chemistry Practice Exam is meticulously designed to simulate the actual exam environment, difficulty level, and topic distribution. It is intended for science students currently in Class 11 or Class 12, as well as repeaters, who are dedicated to mastering chemical concepts and securing a top rank in the final NEET examination. This practice tool aims to build foundational clarity, improve problem-solving speed, and instill the confidence required on the final exam day.

What the Course Entails and Exam Details

Preparing for the NEET Chemistry section requires a comprehensive understanding of the prescribed syllabus, which is strictly based on the NCERT curriculum for Classes 11 and 12.

The syllabus is broadly divided into three main branches:

I. Physical Chemistry: This branch focuses on the fundamental principles governing chemical reactions and the physical properties of matter. Key areas include the Mole Concept, Atomic Structure, Chemical Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics, Electrochemistry, and Equilibrium. Mastery here requires both conceptual understanding and numerical proficiency.

II. Organic Chemistry: This section deals with the structure, properties, and reactions of organic compounds. It requires understanding reaction mechanisms, named reactions, and isomerism. Core topics include General Organic Chemistry (GOC), Hydrocarbons, Alcohol, Phenols and Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids, and Biomolecules.

III. Inorganic Chemistry: This branch involves the study of the properties and behavior of inorganic compounds, including metals, minerals, and organometallic compounds. It is heavily memory-based but also requires understanding periodic trends and chemical bonding. Critical chapters include Periodic Table trends, Chemical Bonding, p-Block, d-Block, and f-Block Elements, and Coordination Compounds.

The NEET Chemistry Practice Exam covers all these chapters, ensuring a balanced representation of both Class 11 and Class 12 topics.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

While the practice exam helps you build stamina and accuracy, knowing the exact structure of the final NEET Chemistry exam is crucial for developing an effective exam-day strategy. The final exam follows a specific pattern that is precisely mirrored by our high-quality mock tests.

  • Mode of Exam: The NEET final exam is conducted in an offline (Pen-and-Paper based) mode. Candidates are required to mark their answers on a machine-readable OMR sheet using a ballpoint pen.
  • Question Type: The section consists entirely of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). For each question, you must select the single best answer from four given options.
  • Total Number of Questions: There are 50 questions in the Chemistry section. However, the section is divided into two parts:
    • Section A: Contains 35 questions, all of which are compulsory.
    • Section B: Contains 15 questions, from which you are only required to attempt 10. This provides students with some flexibility.
  • Scoring Scheme: You earn +4 marks for every correct answer. However, be aware of Negative Marking: -1 mark is deducted for every incorrect response. Unattempted questions carry no marks (0).
  • Time Limit: There is no separate time limit for the Chemistry section. Candidates are given a total of 3 hours and 20 minutes (200 minutes) to complete the entire 180-question paper (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology). Effective time management is key.

How to Study and Exam Centers

Success in NEET Chemistry is a combination of conceptual mastery and strategic practice.

Actionable Study Strategies:

  1. Prioritize NCERT: The NCERT textbooks for Class 11 and 12 are your ultimate guide. Over 80-85% of questions in previous NEET exams have been directly or indirectly derived from lines, examples, or exercises in these books.
  2. Solve Previous Year Questions (PYQs): Analyzing and solving at least the last 10–15 years of NEET question papers is non-negotiable. This highlights high-weightage topics and the specific style of questions asked.
  3. Master Formulae and Reactions: Create concise formula sheets for Physical Chemistry and reaction maps for Organic Chemistry (including named reactions, reagents, and mechanisms). Revise these daily.

Use Mock Tests Strategically: The primary purpose of taking a NEET Chemistry Practice Exam is not just to see your score, but to analyze your performance. After every mock test, dedicate time to understanding your mistakes, identifying weak areas, and improving your time-management skills.

Exam Centers for the Final NEET Exam:

The final NEET examination is a massive pan-India event conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It does not take place through private portals like Pearson VUE. Instead, NTA establishes thousands of physical examination centers across hundreds of cities in India and several international locations.

When you fill out the application form, you must select four preferred cities where you wish to take the exam. The NTA then allots you a specific school or college within one of those cities as your designated exam center. The exact address, date, and reporting time are provided on your Admit Card, which you must download from the official NTA website. You cannot change your allotted center once it has been assigned

 Job Opportunities from the Course

A strong performance in the NEET examination, particularly in Chemistry, is your gateway to prestigious medical qualifications, leading to diverse and fulfilling career paths within the healthcare and allied science sectors. Successfully qualifying in NEET makes you eligible for admission to various undergraduate degrees. Here are the career opportunities unlocked by these degrees:

  • MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery): Leads to a career as a Medical Doctor, General Practitioner, Surgeon, or further specialization (MD/MS) in areas like Cardiology, Neurology, or Pediatrics.
  • BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery): Qualifies you to practice as a Dentist, Dental Surgeon, or pursue specializations like Orthodontics or Oral Surgery.
  • AYUSH Courses (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BYNS, BSMS): Prepares you for a career as a doctor in alternative medical systems like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga, or Siddha.
