While there is no standard uniform passing percentage, you are required to demonstrate competency in specific "Must-Do" questions to pass. 2. Practical Performance Assessment: This requires you to demonstrate that you can safely apply your knowledge in a real-world scenario. You must perform critical tasks under observation, including a full pre-start check, the complete range of standard operations (picking, carrying, stacking a load), and correct shutdown procedures. You must meet all critical "Must-Do" criteria (e.g., checking for hazards before starting the engine) to demonstrate practical competence.

You must pass both the Knowledge and Practical components of the assessment to succeed.

• Use Flashcards for Terminology: Forklift operation has specific terminology. Use flashcards to drill terms like "stability triangle," "load center distance," "data plate," and the detailed steps of the pre-start check.

• Practice Calculations: The Knowledge test often includes basic math relating to load calculations and capacity. Practicing multiplication and basic algebra problems that appear in your course workbook is essential.

• Take Mock Exams: Utilize all practice question banks, online quizzes, and mock exams provided by your training provider to familiarize yourself with the structure and wording of the theory questions.

• Visualize and Rehearse: Verbally walk through the pre-start checks and entire operational process step-by-step. Rehearsing these actions mentally and out loud will solidify the process in your memory, reducing stress during the practical assessment.

Exam Centers: You cannot sit for the final high-risk assessment on your own. All training and final official assessments must be conducted through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) accredited by SafeWork NSW. There is no central, government-run "testing facility" like Pearson VUE for this licence. When you select your RTO for the training course, they will facilitate the final assessment as part of their program, bringing in the accredited assessor to observe. After successfully passing both parts, you will receive a Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA). Within 60 days of receiving this notice, you must take your NSA and proof of identity to an Australia Post outlet to submit your High Risk Work Licence application and pay the required SafeWork NSW fee.
