What the Course Entails and Exam Details

This isn't a traditional single-subject course, but a multifaceted learning experience and competition.

Participants, working in teams, engage in year-round learning and practice. They dive into comprehensive resource guides and hands-on kits to master content in four distinct, universal topics and one rotating current environmental issue.

Each competition event involves teams rotating through five testing stations, staffed by natural resource professionals from various Pennsylvania agencies and organizations.

Written and hands-on portions of the exam are designed to assess team knowledge and application, rather than just simple recall.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

While not a traditional "final exam" in a classroom, the culminating event is the Junior Envirothon competition.

At each of the five themed stations, teams will have a set amount of time to complete the test. The exact duration will vary depending on the specific rules of the local and state event, but will generally range from 30 to 45 minutes per station.

Testing formats are diverse and engaging. Expect a combination of written questions, including multiple-choice, matching, and short answer.
